How much can I save
by using a battery energy storage
system with a generator?
The Test
Hybrid Solution vs Generator only
We conducted a comparison using data from a 28-day operation at a client’s site. While we only installed and operated a hybrid system consisting of a 60kVA generator and a 45/60 Battery Energy Storage System, we compared its performance against a standard diesel-only generator setup using industry-standard data.
All rental and operational costs for the hybrid model were monitored, and these results were then compared to the typical data from a conventional diesel generator package.
- Generator Run Time
- Fuel Consumption
- Fuel Costs
- Equipment Rental Costs
The Results
Performance Comparison: Conventional Generator vs. Hybrid Power
A 28-day controlled comparison was conducted using the following equipment:
a 60 kVA Stage V diesel generator and a 45 kVA/60 kWh battery energy storage unit.
Conventional Generator | Hybrid Power
Run time (hrs) | |||
Fuel consumption per hour: | 7 | 7
Cost per litre | £1.50 | £1.50
Fuel cost | £7,056 | £2,188.15
Rental costs | £850 | £2,650 |
